An Introduction to Essential Questions in the Elementary Classroom
As educators, how do we help students make sense of what they are learning, promote understanding of the standards, while also preparing them for 21st century skills? To do this, we must identify the big ideas that connect concepts and bring meaning to learning. This session will introduce the role of essential questions during the instructional planning process. Criteria for writing questions will be discussed as well as the difference between topical and overarching essential questions.
